Homemade Hummus and Greek Hummus Wraps

Making hummus at home has never been easier. It can be so costly in the store and often there are preservatives and oil in the hummus that aren’t necessary. I have been asked many times to get this up on my blog, so here it is! The best greek hummus ever!

Carlos and I made this last night so we could make the hummus wraps today for lunch. We – for the second time this year – went bike riding on the Root River Trail from Peterson, MN to Lanesboro, MN. The full trip was about 28 miles. Sadly, there aren’t many healthy places to eat lunch in Lanesboro. We learned this the hard way and decided to bring out lunch instead this time.

Homemade Greek Hummus from Espinosa Kitchen

Greek Hummus

  • 5/6 cloves garlic. chopped
  • 2 cans (15 oz.) garbanzo beans, half the liquid reserved
  • 4 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons tahini
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • black pepper to taste

Directions: Place garbanzo beans and garlic in a food processor and puree. Add lemon juice, tahini, salt, pepper, and reserved juice from the beans. The liquid amount varies. I generally put in about 3/4 cup or so, but it is up to you how much you want to add.

Some tasty treats to dip in hummus are carrots, cucumber and pita chips.

I make a delicious hummus wrap with this hummus.

  • Wraps
  • Mixed greens/lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Avocado
  • Diced cucumber
  • Feta cheese

So yummy!
